Reinvention Is Not a Breakdown. It’s a Becoming.
Yesterday I had someone tell me I should shift my marketing brand. She said, “You are the QUEEN OF REINVENTION – that should be your brand.” THE QUEEN OF REINVENTION!!
What a statement! Having been in an orphanage, raised in the housing projects of South Boston, hanging with gangs, running from cops, becoming a Catholic nun, an international airline stewardess, a wife, mother, single-mom, psychotherapist, founder of 5 companies, pioneer in integrative health in the USA – graduate teacher – clinical instructor at a medical school – living on a small Caribbean island, Anguilla, for 10 years, moving back to the states- and so many more journeys - I guess I have some experience in the field…..
For each of us, there comes a moment - sometimes subtle, sometimes undeniable - when the life you’ve built no longer feels like the life you’re meant to live. I know this one well…
Most people misinterpret this moment. They call it burnout. Confusion. Restlessness. A need for a break. But what if it’s none of those? What if it’s an invitation?
Reinvention is not something reserved for crisis. It is a natural expression of growth. The soul does not seek comfort - it seeks expansion. And when we have outgrown a version of ourselves, it will begin to feel… tight. Predictable. Incomplete. Deadening.
So, we begin to question. And that questioning is sacred because beneath it is a deeper truth:
You are not here to maintain who you have been. You are here to become who you have not yet allowed yourself to be.
Reinvention asks something bold of you:
To release what once worked.
To step beyond what is known.
To trust what has not yet fully formed.
Most won’t.
They will stay in the familiar, convincing themselves it is enough.
But a few will listen.
And those are the ones who begin to feel something extraordinary return - aliveness.
The question is not if reinvention is happening in your life.
The question is… will you answer it?
It will be unsettling for sure – enticing – and repelling – all in the same moment. But underneath it all will be a knowing, that if ever the time was right – here it is….
